Don’t let us squander this brief life. Don’t let us choose the wide path that leads to a closed door. But help us walk the narrow way leading to the open door, to life everlasting.
Without your Spirit, there is no fear of God before our eyes. We flatter ourselves in our own light, and that light is darkness. Concerning the discovery of our sin and the hatred of it, we lie to you and to ourselves. We see ourselves through rose colored glasses.
Help us to forgive as we have been forgiven. No matter how many times we’ve been disappointed, help us not to poison the air with suspicion and ill will. Help us be vulnerable again.
These earthly vessels are too frail to contain such majesty, so break these alabaster jars, and let your fragrant beauty spill out and fill the earth.
